About Liberty

Our Story:

Where It All Began

Like many biblical stories, Liberty started with a leap of faith.

Pastors Richard and Joan West were supernaturally called to Fairfield in 1991. While praying, they had a simultaneous vision of a group of people calling out to God. They were asking for a pastor who believed in and allowed the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit.

When they travelled to Fairfield, they met a couple who a few weeks later opened their home for Pastor Richard to teach and minister to a small group of people. This small group caught the vision and Liberty Church was founded.

Liberty went from a home to an office, to a community center, to a storefront, then a tent (yep, a tent!). Now we are grateful to be in our own facility located on N. Texas Street.

ο»ΏFrom small beginnings, we have become a body of believers impacting local and global communities. Our local outreach teams have assisted schools, low-income neighborhoods, and local police departments resulting in higher graduation rates, a decrease in crime and better police and community engagement.

We exist to spread the Gospel locally and globally – through genuine compassion,

radical generosity, and bold faith in God’s word.

We invite you to join us in the journey one of changing Solano County and nations around the world, through God’s love and His power, found in the gospel of Jesus Christ!

Globally, we assist with church planting, pastoral training, and leadership development in nations across the world.

We've helped plant over 300 churches globally, trained over 37,000 pastors and leaders, come alongside ministries, established Bible Training Centers and done street ministry in many nations. We truly love sharing the gospel. It's been a journey, and we give God all the glory and praise.

Frequently Asked Questions

    WE BELIEVE

The ministry of Liberty Church is in agreement with the following statements. All teaching and activities are based on these biblical principles.

        We believe:

        • That there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. (Matt 3:16; 28:19; John 14:26; 17:21; 2 Cor 13:14; Ephesians 4:4-6)
        • In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, and in His bodily resurrection.
        • The Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thess 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21)
        • That God the Father sent His Son Jesus into the world, to save the world from sin and eternal death. (John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.”)
        • Salvation is a free gift to all who will receive it. (Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace are you saved through faith…”)
        • There is only one way to heaven.  (John 14:6, “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes to the Father, but by me.”)
        • It is only by the shed blood of Jesus that it is now possible for us to enter into fellowship with Father God.  (Hebrews 10:19, “Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus.”)
        • In water baptism.  It serves as an outward sign and testimony of an inward grace.  (Matt. 28:19, “Go therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”)
        • In the baptism of the Holy Spirit with evidence as a subsequent gift to salvation. (Acts 2:4) The present supernatural ministry of the Holy Spirit, who gives gifts to believers on the earth today.
        • In the provision of bodily healing in the atoning work of Jesus our Savior. (1 Peter 2:24, “He Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that dying to sins, we might live to righteousness; by whose stripes you were healed.” 1 Corinthians 12:7, 10,11.)
        • In the return of the Lord Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the saved and the lost; the saved to eternal life, living eternally in the presence of God, and the lost to eternal damnation without further opportunity of repentance. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-18.)
        • The resurrection of believers to everlasting life and blessing in heaven, and the resurrection of unbelievers to everlasting punishment in the torments of hell.

    MARRIAGE

Marriage is a covenant between a man and a woman instituted by God.

        • The church defines “marriage” as the exclusive covenantal union of one man and one woman in which such union is a lifetime commitment.
        • A civil government’s sanction of a union will be recognized as a legitimate marriage by the church only to the extent that it is consistent with the definition of “marriage” found in this statement of faith.
        • Legitimate sexual relations are exercised solely within marriage. Hence, sexual activities outside of marriage (referred to in the New Testament as “porneia”-- πορνεια) including but not limited to, adultery, premarital sex, homosexuality, and pedophilia are inconsistent with the teachings of the Bible and the Church.
